Extended Family Shoots

Family Photography Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire -With the Grandparents.

I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to capture various extended family portraits. These are super special and capture significant moments in time. They are popular gift ideas for Grandparents such as 70th Birthday’s and Wedding anniversaries! I am always so happy when I receive an enquiry to take portraits of multiple generations. These are the type of photo’s that will be past on to futures generations and looked back on with great love. How lucky am I to be part of this!

Sometimes the shoots can be Grandparents and Grandchildren or to include all three generations and siblings too! The more the merrier I say, and a great excuse to get the family together for the day and celebrate. The shoots can be based at your home/garden space or we can meet at a local park where everyone can get to easily.

Printing your photo’s as a gift

Getting prints of your extended family shoot will also make wonderful gifts for all members of the family. With an increase in digital images that surround us, a printed photograph offers an extra special significance. Something to hold and brings us back to the original quality of the photograph when printed and framed at high quality. Grandparents will really appreciate having prints around their home to remind them daily of the family they have around them.

Planning your extended family shoot

As it’s not often that you will bring the whole family together for a photoshoot its important to consider a few things pior to your shoot. Location is an important factor, Id suggest choosing somewhere that holds significant memories- a family member could volunteer to host the shoot at their home/garden space. Alternatively you could find a local park or woodland where you might regularly meet.

Secondly as there will be a large number of you, having a group discussion on a colour palette that you will aim towards when choosing your outfits will be important as this will effect the overall look and feel of your photos. Are you going for casual walk in the woods look, or are you dressing up for the occasion?

And lastly have a rough idea on specific group shots you want recording, if you want a few different combinations its good to have a little check list to make sure we don’t forget anyone. I also love the natural moment so while you are all having a good time together I will snap those candid moments in-between.
